I would be remiss if I didn't put the folks at Project Seven at the top of this list. If you buy their products that's your choice. But their tutorials and products are some of the best investments I have made.

Don't miss Playing With Fire, great tutorials there. And if you can get a copy of Linda's first book, Playing with Fire, I would recommend it. Her second offering, Razzle Dazzle, is also highly recommended by yours truly.

A List Apart is a must bookmark, as many of these links will be, your call.

Eric Meyer can teach you much if you dig around at MeyerWeb.

WDVL is a huge resource for just about everything Designer/Developer related.

The World Wide Web Consortium is a must use site.

Vincent Flanders' Web Pages That Suck can provide some levity and something can be learned too!

The Zen Garden is an interesting illustration of the power of CSS.

Here you will find links to sites and utilities that will help you fix your system all by yourself! Yes, you can do it!

Here are some absolute requirements:

Grisoft's AVG free edition anti-virus scanner. Download it, run it and keep it up-to-date! I am not too keen on McAfee or Norton as their products, while good, are becoming rather bloated.

AntiVir is another free virus scanner, figured I would give you a choice. AntiVir is not quite as user friendly as AVG, but seems to have a better track record of detection.

Ad-aware is a utility to scan your system for Adware, Spyware and an assortment of other nasty little bugs that will bog your system down. You might also try Spybot Search and Destroy, many people use both for detecting Malware.

Get a Firewall people, I can't believe the number of people who don't run a firewall on an always-on high speed connection. Here's a link to Sygate's firewall at Major Geeks get it or any other one that's there and use it!

CWShredder, just get the stand-alone version, this little utility will scan for the Cool Websearch bad guys.

HijackThis is a handy little program that will show everything that starts up on your machine and more. You'll want to read the tutorials found at the link above.

So, you're a do-it-yourself type eh? Best way to figure it out is do it yourself... so here's a list of forums, in no particular order. Virtual Dr. - Cyber Tech - AnandTech .

You won't find a pop-up stopper/killer here... I switched browsers! Internet Explorer is all well and good, not really... Was a time I used Mozilla, But now use the lightweight Firefox. Two quality browsers that block pop-ups too. If you must use Internet Explorer, snag the Google Toolbar... it has a pop-up blocker built-in.

Another excellent resource is The Elder Geek, much to learn people!

Where to buy computer parts... Without question, Newegg. I've used many other online sellers and they are all quite good, but Newegg continues to have the best price/shipping I've ever seen! And their speed of shipment and consistency is second to none.
